General Info

Located at 5 bis Boulevard Exelmans, 75016 Paris, France, Mathusalem (Le) is a restaurant that leaves a lasting impression through its welcoming atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and classic French flavors. From the moment I arrived, the setting felt comfortable and inviting, making it an appealing choice for both locals and visitors exploring this part of Paris.

One of the highlights of the dining experience is the selection of signature dishes that showcase traditional preparation and satisfying flavors. The Friand d'escargots stands out as a memorable starter, offering a rich introduction to the menu. For the main course, the Suprême de Volaille is a popular choice, cooked with care and presented in a way that reflects the restaurant’s attention to detail. Paired with the Purée Maison, the meal feels hearty, balanced, and genuinely enjoyable.

The dessert selection is equally appealing. During my visit, the Crème Brulée delivered the classic contrast between a crisp caramelized top and a smooth, creamy center. The Baba Au Rhum provided a more indulgent finish, bringing a traditional French touch that many diners appreciate. These dishes help create a complete dining experience from start to finish.

Beyond the food, Mathusalem (Le) offers several practical services that add to the overall comfort of guests. The restaurant features wheelchair accessible seating, making it more convenient for a wider range of visitors. Guests looking for lighter meals will also appreciate the availability of healthy options on the menu. Additional amenities such as a restroom and acceptance of debit cards contribute to a smooth and hassle-free visit.

Because of its reputation and dining experience, dinner reservations recommended is an important point to keep in mind, especially during busy periods. Planning ahead can help ensure a relaxed evening without unnecessary waiting.

Looking through reviews, many visitors appreciate the combination of attentive service, well-prepared dishes, and a pleasant dining environment. Whether stopping by for a classic French dinner, enjoying signature specialties like Purée Maison and Suprême de Volaille, or ending the meal with Baba Au Rhum and Crème Brulée, Mathusalem (Le) delivers an experience that feels authentic and satisfying. What customers say?

“ La Mathusalem is a hidden gem in Paris for culinary indulgence, offering a truly dining experience. Every dish is artfully crafted, pairing perfectly with their extensive wine collections. The menu for my lunch was a starter of roast pumpkin with spices & pomegranate, the main course of fish pie garnished with torched shrimps, the dessert of tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream & chantilly cream. All exudes refined, umami twist on the classic dishes, making it an exquisite experience. A must-visit for discerning food and wine lovers. ”

“ The original French bistro. The beef tartare includes pickles, which add a perfect touch. The salad and appetizers are uniquely seasoned—flavors you won't find elsewhere—and the food is so comforting, you'll definitely want to come back. The restaurant is run by the owner of the gelato shop just across the street. Be sure to have gelato for dessert! ”

“ Really loved our dinner here. The place felt full of friends of the manager and we felt very welcome. The food (especially the mash potato which was the best I've ever had!) and wine was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!! Update: Came back 3 years later and still had an amazing time. The food and wine were excellent and the people there are very friendly and welcoming! ”
